Last chance to submit an essay!

December 1, 2023

Classmates:

This is your last opportunity to contribute an essay to the Reunion Book for our 60th Reunion next year. If you missed the Oct. 11 email from me, you can see it here. And if you missed the follow-up Nov. 11 email from Class Secretary Tony Lavely, you can see that email here.

So far, your classmates have submitted nearly 200 essays, which is about half the rate of essay submission we experienced when we compiled our last Reunion Book ten years ago. If you haven't submitted an essay yourself, we'd like to hear from you before Dec. 15. To publish the Book on time, we cannot accept any submissions or changes after Dec. 31.

This Reunion Book will no doubt be the final book produced by our Yale class, so it will be a significant missed opportunity if you don't submit an essay. As I wrote in my October email, “At this point in our lives, everyone has a story worth telling. You may have climbed Everest twice or cared for an ill spouse or child for years. Maybe your passion in later life has been walks with your dog. But please don't go on about politics — left or right.” The point is, we want to hear from YOU. More essays and current personal photos will make the book a keepsake worth having, not just for you but for your family and future generations.

So please engage and follow the steps below to submit your essay. As part of the process, you'll use the following 5-digit personal ID code which is unique to you:

Your name: *|FNAME|* *|MNAME|* *|LNAME|*
Your personal ID code: *|ID|*

  1. Go to the Reunion Book portal here.
  2. Click the "Login" button and follow the instructions, using your personal ID code (*|ID|*) when requested.
  3. On the "Photos" page, upload a relatively recent close-up photo of yourself. It can be a group shot if you're clearly pictured.
  4. On the "Essay" page, add an essay of 500 words or less.
  5. If you can't complete the process in one session, you can always go back later and pick up where you left off.

If you have questions or difficulties, please reply to this email and I'll get back to you immediately.

Best wishes,
